31-05-1996 A Memorial Service for the two miners lives lost at Number 2 Mine. This Service was held on the closing day of Number 2 Mine 31st May 1996. Two miners helmets sit astride the mound of coal representing the lost mates, David Firth and Scott Stephenson.
Collinsville No. 2 Underground Coal Mine DATE OF INCIDENT: 18 August 1988 SEX: Male OCCUPATION: Deputy ACCIDENT LOCATION: Underground INCIDENT: Fatally injured when he was buried under a fall of rib-coal brought down by a major roof collapse.
MINE: Collinsville No. 2 Colliery DATE OF INCIDENT: 19 March 1992 SEX: Male OCCUPATION: Training Miner Driver ACCIDENT LOCATION: Underground Pillar Extraction INCIDENT: Fatally injured whilst training on a miner remote control when a nearby rib fell into the mesh. Took fright and ran across the cutter drums. He was caught and dragged into the cutter drums.
